
New Delhi, May 04: Reports said that a Parliamentary standing committee in its report sought a fixed minimum term for the Chief Justice of India and Chief Justices of the High Courts. The panel also recommended that the retirement age of the Supreme Court be further increased to deal with the issue of pending cases in the judiciary.
The panel, while suggesting that the retirement age of the Supreme Court judges be enhanced from the current 65 to 67 years, said that the retirement age has remained unchanged since India became a Republic.(Agency inputs)
