Kerosene Oil quota to be released to DCs: Zulfkar

SRINAGAR, Oct 20: The Department of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution will release Kerosene Oil quota directly to Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from the next month.

The decision to this effect was taken at a high level meeting held here today under the chairmanship of Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Ch. Zulfkar Ali. The Minister said that the decision was taken to streamline the distribution system of Kerosene Oil (K Oil) in the state.

The Minister said that the quota of Kerosene Oil should be released in the first week of every month while as Utilization Certificates (UCs) in this regard shall be ascertained from concerned Deputy Commissioners by 20th of every month. He said that Deputy Commissioners should closely monitor the distribution, of-take and lifting positions.

The Minister said that the quota is to be fixed as per the requirements submitted by the Deputy Commissioners. He further said that the coupon system should be also introduced from November this year to strengthen the entire LPG distribution system in the state. He also said ADCs should prepare the lists of those who opt for Kerosene Oil and thereby maintain registration.

The Minister said that there would be only one wholesale dealer of subsidized Kerosene Oil for a district.

Secretary, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Mr. Saurab Bhagat, Directors, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution, Kashmir and Jammu, besides other senior officers of CA&PD Department were present on the occasion.
