Youth Congress condemns lathicharge on students in Jammu

JAMMU, Mar 04: Strongly condemning unprovoked brutal lathicharge on students protesting for their genuine demands, Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) president Pranav Shagotra today said that shameful action of the cops on peacefully protesting students, including girls, is indication that PDP-BJP government in J&K is shamelessly adopting oppressive means to stifle voice of the people. He said that today’s gruesome lathicharge on students including girls is an indication that PDP-BJP government has decided to snub voice of the students of Jammu through force and brutality.

In a statement issued here today, Shagotra said that students of Class 12th including large number of girls were protesting against authorities for out of patter Physic paper conducted on day before yesterday. He regretted that instead of listening grievances of the aggrieved students, authorities directed cops to use brutal force against students who were protesting peacefully.

“It is very unfortunate that authorities are using oppressive means to gag voice of the students of Jammu region, who are peace loving and nationalist”, he said and warned that such actions of the cops on peace loving students would proved counterproductive. “We will not remain a mute spectators to the unprovoked brutal lathicharge on students”, Pranav warned and pointed out that videos which went viral on the social media are very disturbing because some cops are seen mercilessly beating the peacefully demonstrating student including some girls students. “It is really shameful and inhuman that some brave cops including one Inspector rank officer are seen kicking two students including a girl one during protest”, he regretted.
