 Div Com Ramesh Kumar visits Pernote, meets affected families

RAMBAN, May 3: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today interacted with the affected families besides assessing the losses of damaged houses, road connectivity, other public utilities and infrastructure affected due to land subsidence at Pernote areas of Ramban.

During his visit to Ramban, the Divisional Commissioner had a detailed discussion with the officers of the District Administration about ongoing measures taken by the different departments regarding accommodation, food and other essential arrangements made for the affected families.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ramban Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, SSP, Ramban Anuj Kumar, ADDC, Roshan Lal, ADC Varunjeet Singh Charak and other senior officers.

Listening to the issues and demands of members of affected families, the Div Com said that the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary have assured all possible help for their rehabilitation and sustainable livelihood.

He said that all their issues will be addressed by the administration including ex-gratia relief; land for construction of houses, benefit of job-oriented and social sector schemes and PMAY House will be provided to them on a priority basis.

The Div Com said that the compensation as per Government norms will be disbursed soon. He said that on the directions of Lieutenant Governor the District Administration is identifying the land to compensate the affected families.

He said that the teams of experts from IIT Jammu and Geological Surgery of India have already visited the area and taken stock of the situation besides taking samples to analyse the cause behind the sinking of land.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary briefed the Div Com about rescue and rehabilitation operations launched by the District Administration with the help of District Police, NDRF, SDRF, CIVIL QRT and locals.

The Deputy Commissioner said that all the departments have been directed to provide benefits of schemes to affected families of their respective departments.
