          Kavinder, Jugal kick-start work on Sunjwan-Chatta road link under PMGSY

JAMMU, Feb 17: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today said development of road infrastructure brings multiple socio-economic benefits to the people and catalyze the local economy.

Kavinder said this during the foundation laying ceremony for construction of road from Sunjwan to Chatta under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

The Speaker along with Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma laid the foundation stone for this 5 km stretch of road, at a function held here today. The road is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.72 crore.

“With the development of all weather rural roads, benefits to the rural economy will be quickly visible including increased mobility, increased productivity, saving in cost of transportation of men and material and speedier flow of commodities besides, changes in the life style”, the Speaker added.

Reiterating Government’s commitment towards development of road connectivity across all regions, he said the government has chalked out carefully calculated phase by phase road infrastructure development plan for the state. The execution of these projects is being meticulously carried out in a phased and time-bound manner to ensure the benefits of these initiatives reach common masses, he said.

Member Parliament Jugal Kishore while addressing the gathering assured the public of Government’s commitment and support towards their development and growth.

He asked the people to participate actively in the development process of the state. He also urged the locals to be watchful of the Government and monitor the progress on all developmental works being undertaken in their area.

The Speaker and Member Parliament were accompanied by various officials of the concerned departments.
