Scholarship sanctioned for 285 police wards;JKP focussed on ensuring quality education to police wards: DGP


JAMMU, FEBRUARY 13: Stressing upon the wards of police personnel for getting modern education, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr S P Vaid said the proper education is the basic foundation for achieving success along their chosen career paths.

Dr Vaid said this while addressing a meeting of Executive Body of Police Parivar Fund here today.

The meeting sanctioned scholarships of over Rs 15 lakh in favour of 285 wards of JKP police personnel, who secured above 80 percent marks in annual class 10 examinations and Post Gradation levels during  academic year 2015-16, besides wards of martyrs.

On the occasion, DGP said the objective of granting scholarships is to boost talent among children so that they can compete in different fields to build strong careers. He stressed upon the parents to make best use of these scholarships for the future studies of their wards.

“Scholarships are being sanctioned in favour of the meritorious students who secure high marks in different examinations, out of Central Police Welfare Fund, to support the talented youth along their career paths”, said the DGP.

Dr Vaid said the organization is taking various welfare measures to promote education of wards of its personnel, which include setting up of police public schools at various district headquarters, grant of scholarships in favour of meritorious wards and the children of deceased personnel. He said many initiatives have been launched including providing free education and hostel facilities in police public schools at Srinagar, Jammu to the wards of martyrs. Free coaching for professional courses is also provided to these wards so that they could excel in these courses. The scholarships are provided to these wards from the primary level regularly so that they could nourish their talent in education, he added.

He further said that efforts are on to provide better educational facilities to the wards of police personnel.
