ARNIA, (RS PURA), JANUARY 10: Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology, Choudhary Lal Singh, today said the human resource development is essential for turning Jammu and Kashmir into a prosperous State.

Speaking to the large gathering of people at Arnia in RS Pora area of Jammu, the Minister said besides government’s efforts and initiatives, people should come forward to reform their areas. He said a collective community initiative of like-minded people, irrespective of caste, creed and political affiliations for overall development must gain the momentum across the State.

The Minister, who was chief guest at the annual Saini-Salarai Biradari function (annual community congregation), said that sustainable development refers to a mode of human development in which environment is preserved while using the resources to meet human needs.

He urged the people to establish village development centres at a common place for the overall development of the society from every child to the adults. He said that the main purpose of establishing the centre should be for the overall development and self-sustenance of people of all age groups in the village. He also called prominent people of the area to impart skill training like spoken English to improve communication skills, various dance forms, music, self-defence courses to the educated youth.

Pertinently in such kind of congregations, locally known as (Varshik Male) organized by people, the particular community holds a massive Langar (community kitchen) for its people. During the funcation, people start giving tributes to its noted personalities, recall their contribution, and celebrate their achievements. The assembled people also introspect on the community failures and introspect for bringing positive reforms to the community and society.

Later the Minster also felicitated the members and educated youth of the Saini-Salarai community at the RS Pura.
