68th Republic Day celebrated at Doda; Priya Sethi pays homage to architects on Indian Constitution

DODA, JANUARY 26: The 68th Republic Day was celebrated today with great enthusiasm and patriotism at Doda.

The main function was held at District Police Lines where Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture & Parks, Priya Sethi unfurled the tricolor and took salute of the march past comprising contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, FPF, Home Guards, NCC and children from various schools.

DDC Doda, Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Doda Vinay Kumar, ADC Doda Mohammad Hanief Malik, ADDC, Narinder Singh Bali, besides other officers were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Ms Sethi felicitated the people and reiterated the importance of Republic Day in the history of India as on this day Indian constitution came into force.

Ms Sethi paid rich homage to the forefathers of Indian constitution. She said peace is required for the growth and development of the region as well as country. She said a large number of scheme have been launched by the government mainly focused on the youth and poor sections of the society. She said the people need to take benefit of these welfare schemes.

Highlighting the developmental of district Doda, the minister said the famous and much awaited Ganpat Bridge has been completed and will be dedicated to the people of the area soon. She said Dessa water supply scheme is ready to supply water to the whole town and will be commissioned soon.

The Minister said that the work of Batote-Sinthan national highway has been started which is to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 95 crore besides Sudhmahadev-Marmat-Khellani road as an alternate route to Chenab region is also sanctioned by the government of India.

The Minister said to bring Doda on tourism map of the state, Rs 4 crore water sports project has been sanctioned at Pul Doda. Besides a snow festival shall also be organized in Bhaderwah this year.

She said a primary health centre at Bhalla and a trauma centre at Khellani are also ready which will improve availability of healthcare facilities in the area.

In convergence with MNREGA around 2000 works have been completed this year whereas under Swach Bharat Mission, foundation stone of 6000 sanitary complexes has been laid, she said.

Similar celebrations were held at Tehsil headquarters Bhaderwah, where SDM Bhaderwah Mohammad Anwar Banday unfurled the tricolor and took salute of the march past contingents.
