DC Ramban Mohd Aijaj gets Best Electoral Practices Award

RAMBAN, JAN 25: District Election Officer Ramban Mohammad Aijaz young IAS officer of J&K cadre today was awarded for best electoral practices.
 
The award was given to the officer by the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in the presence of chief electoral officer of jammu and kashmir shri Shantmanu and other officers on National Voter Day celebration at Jammu today.
 
  The officer was selected for the award on the basis of recording highest enrolment of electors ie 4.90% in the State and 10191 new additions in the district
  Deputy Commissioner. Ramban was invited by Election Commission of India to make a power point pressntation before the commission regarding Best preactices adopted by Ramban district during Special Summary Revision.
Ramban of Jammu division before Election Commission of India.  several new initiatives to enroll maximum number of electors were taken up by CEO Ramban which have been recognised by the commission. In this regard, ECI has uploaded the SSR-2017 booklet published by district Ramban.
 
 Reportedly, the officer has personally attended over 100 camps organized for local people, fruit growers, farmers, nomads, Gujjars and Bakerwals,Army and paramilitary forces, handicapped people,  laborers working with railways, Chaneni-Nashri tunnel works, fourlane project and with other agencies. Many new electors were enrolled who had even crossed 40 years of age without enrolment.
 
During SSR-2017, widespread campaign was also launched by the officer with the help of local people, shopkeepers, passers-by, students, NCC cadets, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, helpers, ration dealers, religious people, teachers, BLOs, Patwaris, VLEs, GRSs and various other employees. A door to door visits, pledges and signature campaigns were also launched to cover all hamlets across the district.

Pertinently, the booklet prepared by the officer to record overall events of SSR-2017 and SVEEP activities has already been uploaded on the home page of Election Commission of India.         
The officer has been given award by Hon'ble Governor in presence of the Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kadhmir shri Shantmanu. The CEO in a press conference a week ago has told that District Ramban stands at topmost slot in performance in the state during the special summary revision.
