President’s Police Medal; DGP Vaid felicitates JKP awardees

JAMMU, JANUARY 25: Government of India announced President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, Distinguished and Meritorious Service on the eve of Republic Day-2017.

49 personnel from Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the medals, which include 32 Medals for Gallantry, 1 for Distinguished Service and 16 for Meritorious Service.

          The personnel who have been awarded Gallantry Medal include SP Javaid Iqbal, ASP Sajad Hussain, Dy.SsP, Tanveer Ahmed Jeelani, Mumtaz Ali, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Tariq Ahmed, Parenab Mahajan, Zaheer Abas, Irshad Hussain Rather, Syed Sajad Hussain and Iftikhar Ahmed, Inspectors, Feroz Ahmed Ittoo, Dilraj Singh and  Irshad Ahmed Reshi, Sub-Inspectors, Nazir Ahmed Kuchey,  Manzoor Ahmed, Nazir Ahmed Kuchey, Stanzin Ostal, and Riyaz Ahmed Gani, HCs, Ram Lal, Selinder Singh, Manzoor Ahmed, Fayaz Ahmed and Ghulam Ahmed Malik, Sg.Constables, Manzoor Ahmed, Manoj Kumar, Shakeel Ahmed Mir, Shamas-ud-Din Lone, Surash Singh and Gurjit Singh, Constables, Khurshid Ahmed Khan and Farooq Ahmed Bhat.

          IGP IRP Armed Jammu, Yoginder Koul has been honoured with President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

          Likewise, Joint Director Prosecution (PHQ), Gowhar Hussain Mir, Deputy Director SSG, Ghulam Rasool Dar, SsP, Prabh Dayal, Labhu Ram, Aijaz Rasool Mir, Dy.SsP, Aijaz Ahmed Mir, Bagwan Dass, Mohammad Azeem Quershi, Inspectors, Deshgir Singh, Nisar Ahmed Bakshi, Farooq Hussain Shah, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Sub-Inspectors, Alif Din Khan, Sunder Singh and HC Angraz Singh Manhas.           

          Director General of Police, Dr. S. P. Vaid has congratulated the JKP personnel for gaining the prestigious medals. He said that the force is proud of its gallant and meritorious officers and Jawans, who, by the dint of their valour and dedication in the field of public service have achieved the honour. He said that the capabilities of Jammu and Kashmir Police have been recognised at national level and the force now figures at par with premier forces of the country.

          Dr. Vaid has expressed hope that the awardees would continue their efforts in public service and garner more appreciations for the organisation and the Nation as well. Other personnel would be inspired and encouraged by the honour, they have been conferred, said Dr. Vaid.
