Chandhigarh, Oct 3: Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann issued orders to reinstate Principal Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats DK Tiwari, a month after he and director of the department, Gurpreet Singh Khaira, were suspended after the Punjab government had to withdraw its orders of premature dissolution of panchayats and had to face an embarrassment.
However, the government is yet to clear the file for Gurpreet Singh Khaira, a 2009 batch IAS officer.
The two officers had to pay for issuing orders for dissolution of gram panchayats, a decision that was challenged in the high court.
The orders were issued under provisions of Rule 3 (1) of the All India Services (Disciplined Appeal) Rules, 1969.
