Saddal to be made smart village by June 2016: Dr. Jitendra

UDHAMPUR, Sep 19:Union Minister of State( Independent Charge) of Ministry of Development of North –Eastern Region, MOS in PMO, Ministry of Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today visited village Saddal- Panjar in tehsil Moungri of district Udhampur.

Union Minister highlighted the achievements of the Central Govt and said that the Saddal village will be the first village in the State of J&K which will be converted into a smart model  village  by June 2016 under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana and it will set up an example in whole J&K. He added that for the people of Saddal village,135  hutments and 135 toilets will be constructed with the active participation of District Administration, to fight the chilling winters and sustain themselves in extreme environmental conditions at Panjar. These  huts will accommodate 135 families of the Saddal village.

Dr. Singh assured all possible help from the Government to the flood victims to overcome the difficulties of the affected families. He appreciated the DDC Udhampur Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and the district administration for their contribution and cooperation in   rehabilitation and various development works in the district. He also stressed upon the people to avail maximum benefits from the various  govt schemes.

The Union Minister said that smarter village based on PM’s smarter city concept will have all modern facilities for villagers of Saddal which will include School, Hospital ,Vocational training centre- where Courses on plumbing, Mobile Repairs, Computer, beautician, tailoring, electrician and other self-employment generation programmes will be run for skill development and generation of employment opportunities for young boys and girls. He further said that smart school would be opened in model smart Saddal village so that children of the village will get good and advanced education. As per need basis, more ration and K.oil depots will  also be opened at Smart village, he added.

He also awared the people about the Jan Dan Yojana and various social security schemes such as PMJJBY (Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bhima Yojna), PMSBY( Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bhima Yojna) and APY(Atal Pension Yojna). He also said that 135 bank accounts including insurance of these 135 affected families will be done  in first phase.Later, Dr Jitender Singh distributed 135 solar lights among the affected families of the Saddal village.

Earlier, people of the area put forth various demands and problems which include upgradation of Panjar High School and Health subcentre, opening of new ration depots, Degree college at Panchari, cover of un-electrified area, plantation of fruit trees at Saddal, repair and upgradation of roads, monthly supply of ration etc.

SSP Udhampur, Mr Suleman Chowdhary, ADDC Udhampur Mr Arvind Sharma, AD Doordarshan, Mr Sanjit Khajuria, all district and other senior officers of the district , Sarpanches, panches and a large gathering were also present on the occasion.
