Altaf Bukhari reviews water supply position of Srinagar city

 

SRINAGAR, Sep 19:  Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has said that  all out efforts are being made to improve the basic facilities of the people especially water supply in uptown of Srinagar city.

 

This was stated by the Minister at an officers meeting convened here today to review the measures being taken to augment water supply in Srinagar city including uptown areas and Amirakadal constituency.

 

Among others, Chief Engineers of PHE, R&B, MED, Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, Master Plan were present on the occasion. 

 

The meeting discussed in detail the ways for taking water supply to Barzulla, Chanapora, Saria Bala, Hyderpora, Peerbagh and other parts of the city  from Tangnar water supply scheme ready for  commissioning. The meeting also discussed laying of pipes over the Lasjan bridge. 

 

Underlining the need for adopting prudent water distribution system, the Minister said that water scarcity issue could be addressed in Srinagar city with the commissioning of Sukhnag and Tangnar water supply schemes.

 

The Minister asked the authorities of PHE department to replace old pipelines with new ones wherever necessary so that the water supply could reach to every area. He said water scarcity in Srinagar could be addressed once these two water supply schemes are fully commissioned.

 

The Minister asked the authorities of PHE, R&B and Master Plan to work in close coordination so that the pipes are laid in a time bound manner. He asked the authorities of PHE department to lay new pipes where necessary in a planned manner so that every area get the benefit of these new water supply schemes.
