REASI, JUNE 22: Apni Party Vice President and Former Minister, Aijaz Ahmed Khan has demanded immediate relief and rescue operation in flash flood hit hilly areas of Reasi and Ramban Districts.

In a statement to the press, the Former Minister said that the inclement weather and heavy rains have destroyed property, bridges and roads in both the districts especially in Kataji, Mangnad, Kousernag, Lapri, Darsagali, Narisangar, Dalana Top and other places in upper reaches of Ramban and Reasi districts.

He said that the authorities immediately must start rescue operations and shift the victims to safer zones.

“The Govt must constitute assessment teams and send to the rain affected places in upper reaches of Reasi and Ramban districts so that the appropriate compensation can be given to the victims,” he said.

He said that the rains seems to have caused damage of much higher magnitude and the people must immediately be provided ration, rents, medicines and veterinary doctors for the treatment of the injured cattles, if any.

He said that remote areas are among the worst hit and accordingly the Govt response must be made for the victims.

“The people from tribal communities with their families and livestock have been stuck in flood prone areas in remote places where they do not have road connectivity. Hence, it is important to launch the rescue operation as early as possible,” he added.
