Education Dept ignoring students of hilly areas of Bani – Basohli: Apni Party

S. Sidartha Paramedical Training Institute, Sunjwan, Jammu

KATHUA, JUNE 11: President, Kandi Belt (Bani-Basohli), Apni Party, Yasar Choudhary has accused the Education Dept of ignoring the far-flung and remote areas of hilly belt Lohai-Malhar and Dogain with regard to higher education.

In a statement which Yasar has issued in reaction to the Chief Education Officer, Kathua’s order in which a three members committee has been constituted to furnish the feasibility report for opening of Govt Degree College at Katli.

Yasar said that “We are not against the Education Dept but the way they are trying to ignore the rural population and depriving them of education is really shocking. Katli is not a suitable place to open a GDC. Instead, the authorities must open GDC at a centrally located hilly area where students from surrounding areas can reach and pursue their studies.”

“The GDC should be opened in between Lohai-Malhar and Dogain areas as they are within reach and other educational institutes are also located there whereas Katli is 15 kms away and the poor students would have to travel more to pursue their education in the college,” he added.

In these circumstances, he appealed to the Education Dept to review its decision and recommend the opening of GDC at Lohai-Malhar-Dogain instead of Katli.

“If the demand of the people from hilly areas is not accepted, we will be forced to come on the roads and hold protest demonstrations in support of our demands,” he added.
