Treasuries working online in J&K, no scope for favoritism: TOs

JAMMU, DECEMBER 21: Reacting to a news report appearing in a section of the press, the Treasury Officers today said that 95 per cent of the treasuries in the State are working online through ‘Treasury Net Application’ mode.

“All the claims of Drawing and Disbursing Officers are entered in the ‘Treasury Net Application’ and a system-generated serial number is generated and accordingly head-wise liability is projected to the Finance Department,” the Treasury Officers said in a joint statement.

They said the Finance Department authorizes the release of payment and nothing is in the hands of the Treasury Officers or any official working in treasury to favour any claimants for which the treasuries have been dubbed as “den of corruption” in the said news report.

The statement said that all the treasuries are cashless and payments are directly credited into the accounts of the claimants and even treasuries are receiving the claims of contractors/firms from the respective J&K bank branches as such naming the treasuries as source of corruption is a frivolous and baseless charge.

“The Treasury Department is the only office in the state which is working in most transparent and accountable manner and is a well organized department to monitor diversion of misappropriation of accounts,” the statement said.

Expressing dismay over the fictitious news report, the Treasury Officers said that they are working tirelessly to make the system of receipts and payments highly transparent and accountable.
