Opposition parties protest against delimitation report in Jammu, seek its rejection

Jammu, May 17:  Several non BJP Opposition parties and social organisations, today jointly held a strong protest demonstration and salient sit în dharna în front of Election Commission office, here today, seeking rejection of the delimitation report, terming it as biased, politically motivated and against basic norms and ground situations of connectivity and contiguity. 

The senior leaders of main Opposition parties including Congress ,National Conference, PDP,  CPIM, CPI, IDP Shiv Sena ,  Akali Dal (Badal), ANC attended în good numbers besides some social organisations like statehood mission, Deshbhagat Yaadgar committee,JMF and others, which was Coordinated by All parties United Morcha (APUM). 

The protestors raised slogans and carried play cards against the delimitation Commission and demanded rejection of delimitation report terming it totally biased and politically motivated  at behest of ruling BJP and against all basic norms and ground realities of geography, topography ,population and other physical features and public convenience.

Prominent Leaders who attended include APUM- Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Ex-MP, Congress -Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson, Ved Mahajan (Ex- MLC), Shah Mohd Chaudhary, Vinod Sharma, Hari Singh Chib, Na?ional Conference - Ram Paul,Ex Minister,Qazi Jalaluddin,Ex MLA, PDP-  Sdr. Amreek Singh Reen General Secretary ,Virinder Singh Sonu, Bhushan Dogra, Chattar Singh Saini, Ranbir Singh, Shiv Sena-Manish Sahni, CPIM - Com Om Prakash , Com kishore,  CPI- Com Ashwani Pradhan, Akali Dal Badal – Sdr. Mohinder Singh, ANC – Sdr. Gian Singh, Mission Statehood -Sunil Dimple, JMF- Zaffar Sujah, Sikh Intellectual Forum – Narinder Singh Khalsa, Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee Com. Shukh Dev Singh, Pantak Taalmail  Sangthan – Sdr. Surjit Singh, Singh, IDP – Narinder Khajuria, I.D. Khajuria (Convenor), Ram Sena – Rajeev Kumar, besides S. Gurdarshan Singh,  Pawan Raina, Shashi Sharma, Adv. Suresh Dogra, Gajan Singh, Rajvir Singh, Kapil Singh, Sahil Sharma, Rajiv Saraf,  Michael Wazir, Dewan Chand (Congress) , Ch. Mohd. Aslam, S. Nirmal Singh (NC) , Sohit Sharma, Ch. Chuni Lal, Ranbir Singh , Sukhvinder Singh  (all PDP), besides several others prominent leaders and activists of different political and socio political organizations took part in the protest dharna.

 Later briefing the media persons , leaders of different political parties and organizations rejected the delimitation report in one voice  and said that their joint struggle  shall continue against the biased report.  The political parties have their respective stated positions on different issues but are unanimous in their opposition to the report of the delimitation, which is highly objectionable biased and  contrary to the basic norms, said Sheikh Abdul Rehman(EX-MP).

Shri Ravinder Sharma-Chief Spokesperson said that the report is not acceptable to almost all non-BJP political parties in the present form which needs to be reviewed before its acceptance, if the Govt. is interested  in doing justice to the people and hold   free and fair elections. We have raised our voice  against it from a common platform to convey to the Centre that the report is highly controversial and not acceptable.

Shri Ram Pal (Former Minister and Sr. N.C. Leader) too  criticized the report as totally biased and against the  basic criteria  of delimitation which has caused great injustice to the  people of different areas, districts and regions at the  behest of BJP. PDP Leaders Amrik Singh Reen and Varinder Sonu too echoed  the same views and opposed the report on various grounds. Shiv Sena President Munish Sahni strongly criticized the delimitation report as totally biased and against the interest of common man in various constituencies and overall interest of Jammu region which deserves one more Lok Sabha Seat but BJP Govt. betrayed the people after seeking huge mandate on false promises. Convener of the APUM  and IDP Leader Mr. ID. Khajuria lashed out at the delimitation panel  and termed the report as one sided and against the  legal provisions guiding delimitation. He said that the joint struggle against injustice of biased delimitation besides restoration of statehood, and  early democracy , besides fight against  communal and divisive forces shall  continue.

Mr. Sunil Dimple lambasted the BJP  and the delimitation panel for doing injustice with he people of  each district and region and different sections of society in  the delimitation. The report is highly biased and  against the people which needs to be rejected and reviewed  in order to  do justice with the people. He said that our struggle for statehood shall continue till the goal is achieved.
