Govt. to create model hospitals across J&K: Lal Singh

SRINAGAR, Sep 15: Stressing that the healthcare needs a robust revamp, Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh today asked for chalking out effective strategies to provide enhanced and timely health services to the people.

Chairing a review meeting, the Minister said that the creation of model hospitals will mitigate the sufferings of the common people across the state. He said that the move will also curb the increasing cases of referrals. Government will try to work on the project on priority basis to create such model hospitals across the state, he said.

He asked to prepare daily inventory of the referral cases from periphery hospitals to GMC and its Associated Hospitals adding that this would help in identifying and removing the deficiencies in District Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres.

While reviewing the functioning of the healthcare institutions, the Minister said loopholes should be addressed on priority basis. He directed officers to be prompt in taking action against the officials who don’t show any improvement in their working in the healthcare institutions.

The Minster asked the officials to make better use of information technology in the healthcare institutions. He asked for building a mechanism wherein better use of information technology in the healthcare institutions is made.

The Minister directed the officials to work tirelessly and provide quality and hassle free services to the people for which he asked them to augment all material and human resources.   He emphasized upon them to treat the patients in their respective hospitals and avoid referrals.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Health and Medical Education Dr. Mandeep  Bhandari, Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Dr. Rafiq Ahmad Pampori, Director Health Services, Kashmir, Dr Sumir Mattoo, Project Director, J&K State Aids Prevention and Control Society, Dr Saleem- ur- Rehman and other heads of the healthcare institutions.
