Sushma Chauhan visits district Samba; Assesses progress on development activities

SAMBA, JANUARY 21: With an aim to transform the developmental profile of the border district Samba, Secretary Planning, Development and Monitoring, Sushma Chauhan who is also the incharge Secretary for Samba District today visited the district and chaired a day long meeting to assess the progress of developmental activities here.

During the meeting, the Secretary held detailed deliberations with District Development Council Chairman, Samba, Keshav Dutt Sharma, officers of district administration and other concerned on development aspirations and issues from grassroots level.

The Secretary while reviewing the performance of the district on several parameters directed the officers to conduct audit of the Community Sanitary Complexes under SBM viz a viz their usage and maintenance. She impressed upon the officers that community involvement should be encouraged for optimum use of the development works.

During the meeting, the Secretary also took overview of the requirements of border villages and advised the officers that schemes like BADP, Aspirational blocks should be optimally utilised for saturation of basic facilities and raising quality of life in border areas.

She particularly stressed upon creation of libraries and playfields in each border villages. Sushma also impressed upon the officers to ensure timely removal of bottlenecks in the development works alongside extension of benefits of welfare schemes to the people of border district.

DDC Chairman while expressing satisfaction over outreach of public functionaries among locals, raised issues of compensation of lands beyond fencing, recruitment of youths in BSF regiments on basis of border certificates and other local issues with the Secretary incharge.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta also presented a detailed presentation on physical and financial achievements of the district. She informed the meeting that 100% vaccination of above 18 years age group has been achieved. She highlighted that the positivity rate of district is 1.6% and stringent measures including IEC, CAB enforcement are taken for COVID containment.

The Deputy Commissioner also informed the meeting about progress on SBM, CSC, Social welfare schemes, Jal Jeevan Mission, MGNREGA, PDD, PWD schemes, PMAY, Languishing project and other schemes under central and UT component.
