Dy CM visits relief camp in Khour, meets people affected by border firing

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 25– Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today visited relief camp at Khour in Akhnoor area set up by the administration for the people shifted from forward areas due to cross-border firing. He took stock of the arrangements put in place at these camps.

Vice-Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans Daljeet Singh Chib and MLA Chamb Dr Krishan Lal accompanied the Deputy Chief Minister during his visit.

During the visit, Dr Singh interacted with the people and assured them of all possible support from the Government during the hard times.

SDM Khour while apprising the Deputy Chief Minister about the arrangements made at the camps said that people especially women, children and elderly persons have been shifted to these camps and are being provided all possible facilities. He further informed that the necessary instructions have been issued to the concerned officers to shift the people from along the borders in case of exigency.

Directing to ensure all basic facilities at the camps, Deputy Chief Minister asked the camp officers to remain present at the camps 24x7 and ensure availability of ration, power supply, drinking water, security and sanitation.

Dr Singh directed the SDM Khour to assess the damage caused to the crops of the villagers due to shelling and prepare a detailed report for further action.

Among others, SDM Khour, Tehsildar, concerned, senior officers and people in large numbers were present on the occasion.
