J&K Bank should provide hassle-free loan facilities to people of rural areas: Sat Sharma


JAMMU, Nov  22:The Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) met here today under the chairmanship of MLA Sat Paul Sharma to discuss and examine the CAG’s Audit Paras related to the J&K Bank Ltd about doubtful recovery/loss due to non-recovery.

Legislators, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Raja Manzoor Ahmad, Shakti Raj Parihar, Rajeev Sharma, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Vibodh Gupta attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make J&K Bank accountable and profitable.  

 The Committee suggested the management of Jammu and Kashmir Bank to remain vigilant and try to avoid unnecessary Audit Objections etc. 

The Committee also asked the Commissioner Secretary, Revenue Department to closely monitor the process for digitization of revenue records as recommended by the previous committee.

The members of the Committee asked the J&K Bank to provide hassle-free loan facilities to the people especially of rural and far flung areas.  

Accountant General (Audit), J&K, H Abbas briefed the committee about   the obligations and suggestions about Audit para regarding doubtful recovery and non-recovery of loans mentioned by the CAGs in the report. 

The Committee decided to drop Audit para No. 5. 1 (C).   

 Among others, senior officers of J&K Bank and Finance Department, besides Assembly Secretariat were also present in meeting.
