LC panel recommends enhancing K-Oil quota in Kashmir

 JAMMU, NOVEMBER 21: Departmental Related Standing Committee-I (DRSC-I) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council Monday urged the government for enhancement of K-Oil quota for Kashmir division during the winter season. 

The Committee, which met here today under the chairmanship of MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga, discussed and reviewed the functioning of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department (FCSCA).

Legislators, Ali Muhammad Dar, Ashok Khajuria and Sofi Yousuf attended the meeting.

While discussing the functioning of the Department, the Committee decided to recommend for enhancement of kerosene oil to the consumers of the Valley for winter season. The K-oil is presently being distributed as per the census of 1991 while as the ration and food-grains are being provided as per census of 2011. 

The Committee will also recommend for opening of new ration depots in far flung areas for convenience of the people.

Secretary, FCSCA Shafiq Ahmad Raina briefed the meeting regarding the budget allocation, details of ration dumped in stores, criteria for providing ration cards to APL and BPL categories, details of fair-price shops, details of ration and food-grains dumped for Ladakh Division, Dachan, Wadwan, Gurez, Tangdhar and Machil etc for winter season.

Director, FCSCA, Kashmir Tassaduq Jeelani informed the meeting that buffer stocking of ration and food-grains have been made by the department in hilly and far-flung areas which remain closed during winters due to snowfall and blockade of roads. He said adequate supply of rations/food-grains including LPG and kerosene oil is being dumped in these areas which will suffice the requirements of the people in winter.

Mr. Jeelani also informed the meeting that the process of distribution of new type ration cards is in progress which will be completed soon.

Committee appreciated the Director FCSCA, Kashmir and his officers for their efforts in ensuring the ration to the consumers during last four months of unrest in Kashmir valley.

 Senior Officers of FCSCA department and the Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
