ADGP Security J&K Dr S D Singh Jamwal chairs session in 5th World Congress at IIT New Delhi


JAMMU, Nov 24: Dr S D Singh Jamwal, IPS, ADGP Security, J&K chaired session on CBRN and Biosecurity in 5th World Conference at IIT New Delhi.

This confrence has assumed special significance in view of prevailing Covid 19 pandemic all over the world. During the Session on CBRN and Biosecurity, eminent scientists and speakers made presentations which included among other Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Saveerha Institute of Medical & Tech sciences, Chennai; Professor Tamorish Kole, President Asian Society for Emergency Medicine and Dr K S Pradeepkumar, Distinguished Scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC). Various issues related with disaster management, including those required for effective management of Covid 19 pandemic were discussed.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr S D Singh Jamwal  stressed on the need for all stake holders including government agencies, health care workers, scientific community, industry and civil society to work in close coordination to ensure that medical interventions like mass vaccination is carried out on a war footing so that maximum people are provided immunity at the earliest  so that the pandemic could be brought to an early end. He also stressed upon need to remain vigilant to any future pandemics which may breakout in future, especially in view of climate change or chances of a non state actor initiating a pandemic as an act of terror.

Dr Singh also thanked the organisers for inviting him to chair the prestigious event and deliberate with other stake holders on an issue which has remained area of his domain knowledge. Dr Singh has done his PhD on Biological Disaster management and has remained associated with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) since 2007 and also remained member of the steering committee of NDMA while drafting Biological Defence guidelines for India.
