Take appropriate action against illegal Stone crusher units : Environment Committee


 

 JAMMU, Nov 15: A meeting of the Committee on Environment of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLA, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen.

      

Legislators, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, Altaf Ahmad Wani, Usman Abdul Majeed, Abdul Majeed Larmi, Rajiv Jasrotia, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, Ravinder Raina and Kuldeep Raj attended the meeting and gave their suggestions to make the Committee fruitful and result oriented.

      

Threadbare discussions were held on action taken on the recommendations contained in the 4th Report of the Committee on Environment in respect of the Stone Crushers and Brick Kilns.

       

Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Shailendra Kumar apprised the Committee about the action taken by the department regarding issues. He also apprised the Committee about the steps taken by the department to control the pollution to save environment in the State.

       

The Committee directed the concerned authorities to keep check on all Stone Crushers and Brick Kilns units working in the state to adopt proper norms and parameters while setting up their plants.

       

The Committee directed the concerned authorities to furnish detailed report with present status of existing Stone Crushers and Brick Kilns to the Committee for its scrutiny besides,  take appropriate action against the illegal units.

Among others, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Chairman, Pollution Control Board, Ravi Km. Kesar, Deputy Commissioners, of Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur and Rajouri besides senior officers of concerned department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
