SRINAGAR, Oct 28: Former J&K Minister Imran Ansari said needless controversy spun around Indo-Pak cricket match.
Ansari said "Needless controversy has been spun around the Indo-Pakistan cricket match. It seems political leaders on both sides of the fence are fanning the sentiments at the cost of careers of students. Polarised discourse is putting pressure on police force to take action.
A non issue has been given undue limelight by certain political leaders who benefit out of coercive legal action. Parties on both sides of fence seeking electoral benefits out of a situation which could have easily been dealt by the college/university disciplinary committees.
We expect political leaders to act as a shield for people particularly the young students. But parties want to reap benefits out of the situation by pushing students on the frontline and jeopardising their careers."
