NEW DELHI, Nov 02: A former serviceman from Haryana allegedly committed suicide at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar after he was not allowed to meet defence minister Manohar Parrikar with his plea on the government’s one rank one pension (OROP) scheme.
Subedar Ram Kishan Grewal reportedly reached Delhi on Tuesday along with five more ex-servicemen, who had drafted their demands and expectations from OROP, allegedly consumed poison on Tuesday. He was declared dead on Wednesday morning.
“I am sacrificing my life for my country, my motherland and my country’s brave soldiers,” Grewal said in an alleged suicide note that was found near his body.
On Wednesday , When Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia tried to meet kin of Ex serviceman at RMl Hospital in Delhi, he was detained by Police.
Later on , Congress VP rahul Gandhi was not allowed to enter the Hospital.(Inputs from Agencies)
