Vaccination,CAB vital to avert 3rd Wave: DC Anantnag

ANANTNAG, JULY 23: The Deputy Commissioner (DC).Anantnag, Dr. Piyush Singla today said that the Covid situation has improved significantly with recovery rate going constantly upwards and positive cases dropping to single digits in the district.

The DC, however, cautioned against any leniency and said the top researchers, epidmiologists and virologists are consistently warning of another wave adding that vaccine and Covid Appropriate Behaviour (VAB, CAB) are vital to avert the same.

Dr. Singla made these remarks while briefing on COVID-19 scenario and the measures taken by the district Administration to address the situation that arose due to its 2nd wave.

Giving details, the DC informed that the current recovery rate is above 98 percent while as positivity rate remained at 0.27 percent for last seven days.

Calling upon the beneficiaries to receive the 2nd jab on due time, the DC exhorted for continuing the ongoing immunisation drives with full momentum so that maximum population gets vaccinated and herd immunity is achieved sooner.

Apprising about the vaccination figures, the DC said more than 3.78 lac doses have been administered to various categories of beneficiaries so far and doorstep inoculations are being effected to vaccinate the target population with 2nd dose as well.

Dr. Singla informed that the enforcement and health teams have been working on ground to ensure the observance of CAB at markets, public parks, tourist sites and other potential crowded places.

Regarding testing, the DC said the ramped up sampling is giving better picture of infection and has been effective in further controlling the virus in the district.

Hailing dedication of every person involved in Covid mitigation, the DC stressed for sustained efforts to curb the pandemic effectively.
