LG said " Today launched Horticulture Week focusing on broad contours of massive Plantation Drives, Nursery Development, Promoting Mechanization, Creation of Water Sources,Human Resource Development& Post Harvest Mgt to realize Hon’ble Prime Minister's goal of doubling the Farmers' Income.
Planted saplings at Akhnoor to commence the first-ever massive high-density plantation drive to plant 25Lac plants in Jammu Division.Another,1.20 Cr plants of Aloe Vera & 42Lac plants of Strawberry to be planted. 67,500 plants of Olive to be planted in Ramban&Doda covering 270Ha.
Mega Horticulture Nursery for high-density plantation to come up at Chakroi,30 units of fruit preservation to be established. Specific focus on Branding & G.I tagging of local produce with the aim of making J&K the leading agricultural & horticulture producing UT of the country.
Credit for making J&K one of the top 5 performers in 'One District One Product' campaign goes to our hardworking farmers & officials. J&K Govt. to train 9000 farmers in budding, grafting, layering etc.1500 women to be trained regarding value addition and fruit preservation.
This year for Agri & Horticulture,a budget of Rs 2008cr has been allocated,which is Rs 695cr more than last year. Now is the right time for our agricultural scientists & researchers to explore new possibilities;guiding farmers to wither the climatic & environmental uncertainties.
