Jammu, Oct 2JKPCC held an impressive function today to celebrate Gandhi Jyanti in which rich tributes were paid to the great Leader and father of nation Mahatma Gandhi.
A large number of party workers assembled at Kunjwani- sunny Farms here today which was attended by prominent leaders of PCC,DCC and frontal Organizations under the chairman ship of PCC chief Mr. G.A. Mir. Senior functionaries of PCC and other prominent leader paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi. Floral tributes were also paid to Former Prime minister Sh. Lal Bhadur Shastri ji on his birth anniversary today.
Addressing the gathering PCC Chief G.A. Mir said that the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi is relevant for all times to come and even more relevant today when an atmosphere of conflicts and violence prevails in different parts of the world. He said that Mahatma Gandhi led the nation to freedom through non-violence against the mighty British rulers. He said that India is known allover world by the philosphy of Non-Violence and tolerance, since India as a pluralistic society has proved itself to be the most successful democracy in the world.He said that Gandhi Ji philosophy is the only way out to sort out and resolve the conflicts and end violence in the world and the entire world should learn lesson from the philosophy and ideology of Mahatma Gandhi for mutual Co-Existence of people of different faiths and interests.
JKPCC chief said that Mahatma Gandhi was torch bearer of peace, religious harmony, Non-Violence and truth in the world and his birth day has been declared as international Non-Violence day by the united nations . He said that there is conflicts of ideology between those who followed the ideology and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and those who were opposed to his philosophy and assassinated him . Today is the time that those who truly believe in his ideology must follow and strengthen his ideology for the unity and integrity of the country..
He also remembered the contributions of Lal Bhadur Shastri and paid rich tributes to him for his outstanding role in the freedom struggle and later in different capacities especially as Prime Minister. He sia that Shastri Ji was symbol of honesty, integrity, and dedications towards the nation
Vice President Sham Lal Sharma in his addressed paid floral tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi and said that the stalwarts of freedom struggle under Mahatma’s Leadership suffered a lot of hardships and made several sacrifices to achieve freedom. It was based on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi that the idea of India was translated into action as a free country based on equality and justice to all, irrespective of caste, creed, color or religions and the country has withstood the challenges all these years as a vibrant democracy both from within and outside . He referred to the contribution of Lal Bhadur Shastri, who gave the slogan of Jai Jawan and Jai Kisan and led the nation to victory in 1965 war . He said the party stands solidly behind the forces and the Govt. of the day in the present challenge and there is need to defeat the designs of enemy while referring to the leadership of Shri Shastri and Smt. Indira Gandhi.
Raman Bhalla-Vice President , who co-ordinated the holding of function ,paid rich tributes to the Mahatma Gandhi and Sh Lal Bhadur Shastri and said that entire world draws lesson from the life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi and Sh Shastri. He said that it is the time to further strengthen the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in order to create a harmonious atmosphere of living in the country and the world.
Shri Aiyaz Ahmed Khan Dy. Leader CLP in his address recalled the fundamental principles of Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy and said that his life is full of lessons for everyone . He said that a great country like ours can only get strengthen and united by following the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi. He said Congress is the only party which truly represents the ideology of Mahatma Gandhi and keep the country united based on those principles by representing the divergent and pluralistic society.
Sh. Jugal kishor MLC and leader of CLP in upper house also paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bhadur Shastri and said that it is time to fallow and strengthen the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi in order to defeat the designs of communal and divisive forces and to strengthen the unity and integrity of the state and nation. Shri Vikram Malhotra conducted the proceedings.
