Director SAMAGRA Deep Raj visits Baramulla; Issues Directions to Officers to finish works at earliest

Jammu, May 23: Project Director-Samagra Shiksha, Deep Raj today conducted field visit to district Baramulla to access the ongoing civil works under School Education Department. The visits were made at Girls’ Hostel Baramulla, Girls’ Hostel Kreeri, Girls’ Hostel Mirgund Patan and Girls’ Hostel Panzipura. Besides, he also visited KGBV (Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya) Wagora at Baramulla.

Pertinent to mention that Girls’ Hostels have been approved to be established under centrally sponsored scheme of Ministry of Education, Government of India –Samagra Shiksha. Concept of establishing Girl’s Hostels is to provide more equitable platform for girls to pursue education and to minimize the gender disparity gap in the society. During the visit, Director issued strict instructions to concerned Executive Engineers and their subordinate staff to expedite the civil constructions in a time bound manner.

He directed them to complete the works of KGBVs by August 2021. Taking a cognizance of KGBV Wagoora, Director asked the Chief Education Officer Baramulla to complete the process of shifting of girls’ inmates from rented to the government building positively by 1st July, 2021 and no rent should be provided thereafter. Furthermore, he issued on-spot necessary instructions to Executive Engineer for floating tenders for procuring beddings and other essential items for Girl’s Hostel Panzipura before 31st of July, 2021.

Later, he visited constructions works at Government High School Chek Sarai which was approved under supplementary PAB as part of Gutted Building. Visit was also made at Arts, Crafts & Library of Government High School Kreeri. A review meeting was also held at the office of Chief Education Officer, Baramulla wherein the Director appraised the fund positions approved under different activities of Samagra Shiksha. He urged the concerned officers to utilize the funds appropriately for the purposes they have been approved. He apprised the house that necessary steps have to be taken for a wider outreach of different schemes upto the level of students who are the real beneficiaries. Meanwhile, Director also asked the CEO to start the distribution of dry ration among the beneficiary students for the month of April and May 2021 by involving representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions.

Those who accompanied during the visit were Executive Engineers of School Education Department, Chief Education Officer-Baramulla, Assistant Executive Engineers and Junior Engineers from Samagra Shiksha as well as R&B Department. Assistant Coordinator (Civil Works)-Samagra Shiksha, Sajad Khan was also present in the team.
