DC Srinagar inspects under construction work at Flyover; Ramky Infra Ltd asked to hand over the site to new concessionaire within 48 hours


Srinagar, Apr 01: Deputy commissioner Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited the site of under construction Flyover near Peaks Chowk Lasjan. 
 
During the visit DC was told by Technical Manager NHAI that completion of balance works is marred by several hinderances. He sought intervention of administration to direct Ramky Infrastructure Ltd company to hand over the site to the new concessionaire so that remaining works could be taken up. Deputy commissioner issued on spot instructions to Ramky to hand over the site within next 48 hours. Moreover, NHAI has been told to complete the single Lane works of the Flyover in next 45 days. He further asked SE PWD Srinagar to provide alignment of old National Highway as required by NHAI. Revenue authorities were directed to provide land free of all encumbrances for slip road. 
 
Pertinent to mention that The work from Banihal to Srinagar was awarded to Ramky infrastructure limited in the year September 2010 and  started on June 2011 with schedule completion date on June 2014 .The total cost of the project was Rs 1101 crores with financial model of 1600 crores . Last year it was decided by the National highways authority keeping in view the importance of the the highway ,the balance work from qazigund to Srinagar was taken up as standalone project, which was put into tenders and now on 24th March 2021 awarded to another concessionaire. This decision was taken after meticulous screening wherein it was found that Ramky was  unable to expedite the construction activities. Grade separator at Lasjin is crucial to the movement on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway at chainage 285+070 to 286+ 110.
