Catch the Rain campaign: DC Samba reviews preparedness


SAMBA, MARCH 20: Deputy Commissioner, Anuradha Gupta today chaired a meeting of district officers to review the implementation of Jal Shakti Abhiyan (mission) in the district.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Rachana Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sidharath Dhiman; CPO Sukhleen Kour district heads of agriculture, horticulture, PHE, school education, forest, IWMP besides other stakeholders were also present.

The Deputy Commissioner was appraised about the various schemes rolled out under JJA, IEC. The meeting was informed about the activities conducted for awareness and progress achieved under the JJA during the current financial year.

The meeting also discussed the campaign with the theme “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” which will continue nationwide during pre-monsoon and monsoon period, covering both urban and rural areas of all the blocks in the District Samba.

During the meeting steps to be taken by different departments for conservation, saving and replenishing of water bodies were discussed at length.

The present status of ponds, natural reservoirs, check dams wells, tube wells, hand pumps and other sources were pondered upon, besides steps required to ameliorate their conditions were also formulated.

The DDC also exhorted upon the officers of different departments to work in a close coordination and achieve the desired results within the stipulated time frame.

She also informed that on 22 March a nationwide inauguration shall be held by union govt. which will be participated by all the officers of district and public representatives through video conference at conference hall DC office Samba.
