UDHAMPUR, SEPTEMBER 09 - District Level Coordination Committee for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) today approved the Action plan for the financial year 2016-17 here at a meeting.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Niraj Kumar.
Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Rakesh Jamwal, Chief Horticulture Officer (CHO) C.L Sharma, Chief Agriculture Officer(CAO) Ajay Kumar Koul, CAHO Dr. B.B Feria, Area Marketing Officer Varinder Kumar, Deputy Registrar Naresh Kumar and Dr. Nitin Dubey from Sheep Husbandry Department attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the DDC said that Horticulture sector has a huge potential in the district and stressed upon the CHO for offering a wide range of choices to farmers for switching over to cash crops. “District Udhampur is bestowed with a wide range of agro- climatic conditions for growing all kind of fruits ranging from subtropical to temperate fruits” he said.
The DC further reviewed the achievements registered by different departments present in the meeting and directed the concerned authorities to put in their best for achieving the objectives of the Mission.
Earlier, the CHO presented the perspective plan for MIDH and informed that an outlay with provision of Rs 51.03 lakh (including for Agriculture department) has been kept in the action plan for the current financial year. He further said that the mission will focus on bringing a large area under horticulture and will also include cost of planting material, IPM, INM, tool and implements, fencing, preparation of land, intercropping as per subsidy provisions laid down in the centrally sponsored schemes.
