SRINAGAR, Sep 01: Jammu & Kashmir Government on Tuesday said a decision on new Chief Secretary will be taken soon as Iqbal Khandey has left the office on 31st August.The chief minister has just returned back and will discuss it with other Senior Ministers and soon a name will come out. Khandey had cited differences with the Government over the frequent transfers and postings of senior officers
Four senior IAS officers Sonali Kumar, Khurshid A. Ganai, Arun Kumar and B R Sharma -- are in contention for the top post as per the seniority. Ganai is retiring in October, Sonali Kumar is superannuating in November. Arun Kumar has more than one year service left but he seems to be out of favour.
B.R.Sharma is the first runner & shall be assigned with the crown of the new Chief Secretary of J&K. B.R. Sharma is presently posted as Commissioner Planning & Development to J&K Government.
