 DC Anantnag announces 3255 Cr NABARD credit potential

JAMMU, Nov 24: The credit potential of ?3255 Crore has been assessed by NABARD for Anantnag district for upcoming year 2021-22. This was revealed at a district level consultative committee meeting held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, K.K. Sidha, while district officers from various line departments, RBI, NABARD and banks were also present in the meeting.

 

On the occasion, DC unveiled the booklet on NABARD’s Potential-linked Credit Plan (PLP) for the district. Giving details about the potential linked credit plan, DDM NABARD, Rouf Zargar said that NABARD has estimated a total credit potential of ?3255 Crore for the year 2021-22 under priority sector to be disbursed by the Banks and Financial Institutions in the district. The PLP has been prepared based on the policies of the Central and State Government and it would form the basis for the preparation of annual District Credit plan for the consequent year. DDM informed the PLP document takes into account various Agriculture and Allied sectors such as Short Term Crop loans with potential upto the tune of 2014 Cr, Term loans under various Agri-Allied activities upto the tune of 291 Cr, MSME upto the tune of 603 Cr, renewable energy upto the tune of 4.63 Cr, food/agro-processing for 31 Cr and other activities such as export credit, education, housing and social infrastructure under Priority Sector upto 147 Cr.  He added that the document was drafted in consultation with various developmental departments and banks.

DC emphasized upon the Banks to increase the lending in Agriculture, horticulture and also the Allied activities to generate employment in the district. He emphasized that the agriculture and allied sectors were the primary focus of the Government and insisted for formation of FPOs to aggregate the farm produce.  He emphasized on providing working capital to dairy, sheep and fisheries sector under KCC to provide support to existing units and identify new entrepreneurs in these areas. He stressed on the creating more income generating units under MSME. He highlighted the need for area and activity specific schemes for integrating income generating activities such as trout fisheries, spice cultivation, apple rootstock plant material. DC appreciated the role of NABARD in credit planning and potential mapping process. He advised the banks to utilize the NABARDs PLP document while setting up their targets under credit plans and utilize the booklet as a reference guide to plan their annual targets.
