Jammu, November 23: A press conference was held at Town Hall Complex, Jammu Municipal Corporation wherein Deputy Mayor, Adv. Purnima Sharma and Commissioner, JMC Ms. Avny Lavasa (IAS) apprised the media that under 74th Amendment, 213 PWD roads upto width of 5.50 mtrs, 11 medical sub centres alongwith staff, 25 primary schools alongwith one Chief Education Officer are now under the administrative control of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Deputy Mayor further stated it was long pending demand before the Govt. to implement the 74th Amendment in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir as per other states of India.
Deputy Mayor thanked the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary for implementing the 74th Amendment in Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and added that there is need to implement 74th Amendment in full so that all the departments can come under the administrative control of Jammu Municipal Corporation for strengthening the JMC.
Suraj Prakash Padha, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Standing Committee, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Chairman, Health & Sanitation Standing Committee and Jeet Kumar, Chairman, Social Justice Standing Committee were also present in the press conference.
