84% allocation spent under MGNREGA; Sec RDD reviews progress of works


 

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 18: Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Khursheed Ahmad Shah today reviewed the physical and financial achievements of the ongoing projects of the department.

The meeting was informed that the department has spent 84 percent of the available budget under MGNREGA which amounts to Rs 136 crore. It was informed that 8.80 lakh man-days were generated under MGNREGA for 5.46 lakh job card holders.

Officials further informed the meeting that 467 works were taken up through convergence under MGNREGA with various other departments at a cost of Rs 9.27 crore out of which 173 works have been completed at a cost of Rs 3.58 crore.

Under 13th Finance Commission, the meeting was informed that 399 Panchayat Ghars were constructed till date while 315 Panchayat Ghars are under construction. Officials said under 14th FC, Rs 1.86 crore have been released and works under this scheme are under execution and are likely to be completed by the end of September 2016.

Secretary RDD said under flood protection works, the department spent Rs 8.80 crore till date. He said 102 works have been approved regarding flood protection at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore.

The officers were further informed that under Swach Bharat Mission (SBM), 47000 Individual Household Latrines have been completed out of the total target of three lakh IHHLs.
