DC Pulwama accompanies KPDCL teams for surprise vigilance checks


PULWAMA, OCTOBER 29: To curb power pilferage in the district, the District Administration Pulwama has started taking effective measures by doing active vigilance through surprise checks conducted by the teams of KPDCL under the supervision of Executive Engineers.

In order to boost the morale of KPDCL teams Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer today accompanied the teams for surprise vigilance checks in the town during wee hours in the morning. While hailing the efforts of KPDCL teams for strict action against violators indulging in illegal hooking and bypassing of the metering, the DDC said that the government is committed to streamline power issues including power theft which is the main cause of load shedding.

He further said that the district administration and special committees formed for curbing power theft have proved to be supportive as the teams go for early morning inspection of line and action is being taken against violators indulging in hooking, illegal connections and bypassing of metering.

He said that due to power pilferage not only the agreemented load has increased in the district by 10-12 MW but peak load has also reduced drastically due to action on the violators.

The DDC reiterated that the administration will take strict action against violators under section 95 of Electricity Act, 2003. It is important to mention that the District Administration has appealed to people to have judicious use of electricity and consume as per the agreement load.
