Anantnag, October 19: A police officer was shot dead by gunmen Monday evening.
It said unidentified gunmen fired at Inspector Mohammad Ashraf at Kenalwan when he was on way to home from a mosque after offering prayers Monday evening.
The injured was immediately shifted to hospital where he succumbed.
Meanwhile, a massive search operation was launched by security forces against the killers.
