Kupwara, October 18: Police today recovered huge amount of narcotics worth crores of rupees during an investigation related to weapon smuggling case in Kupwara district.
Police said that on 13th of October acting upon a specific input a joint search operation was launched by Kupwara Police and Army’s 6 JAK Rifles which culminated in the recovery of arms and ammunition & 5 Pistols, 10 Pistol magazines, 5 Grenades and 4.9 mm 138 rounds were recovered & during investigation three suspects Tanveer Ahmed Khan son of Ab Rashid Khan resident of Teetwal, Karnah, Sajad Ahmed Kakroo son of Bashir Ahmed Kakro resident of Gundishat and Zakir Hussain Shah son of Ali Haider Shah resident of Takia, Bahadurkot were brought for questioning.
During sustained questioning and upon their disclosure five packets of Brown Sugar like substance weighing approximately 5.5 kgs have been recovered from the home courtyard of an accused Tanveer Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Rashid Khan resident of Teetwal, Karnah.
All the three accused have been arrested and further investigation u/s 8/21 and SS 13, 18 and 39 UAPA Act is underway.
