Tax evaders charged Rs 13 lakh fine in July month in Jammu

JAMMU, Aug 05: The Enforcement wing of State Taxes Department Jammu (North) has recovered Rs 13 Lakh fine during last month (July) for evading the tax by the vehicles carrying trade goods.

As per the department, the team headed by Deputy Commissioner, Enforcement, Sunaina Sharma, laid naakas at different locations on NH-44 during the month of July 2020.   During the course of inspections, the goods being transported were found to be different from those specified in invoices and thus, Rs 12.92 lakh was recovered as penalty from the defaulters.

Giving details, it stated that a truck bearing registration number JK18B 6578 of Travega Logistics, carrying Scrap was intercepted and upon physical verification of goods, tax and penalty of Rs 5.54 lakh was recovered. Another truck bearing, number JK0071 of Spoton Logistics Pvt Ltd. carrying Bidis was also intercepted and penalty of 5.84 Lakh was recovered. Similarly, 5 other vehicles were intercepted and penalty of Rs1.53 lakh was recovered.

The DC has appealed to all the stakeholders to transport the goods strictly in accordance with the provisions laid down in GST law and carry along the required documents, - tax invoice and e-way bill(wherever applicable).

The GST enforcement team Jammu(North) consisted of State Taxes Officer Ashwani Sharma, Inspectors S.P.Singh, Beant Singh, Sanjeev Sharma, Mohammad Shafi Hajjam, Sub-inspectors Manvinder Singh, Ajay Kumar, Azad Wani, Neelam Singh, Kamal Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Ajay Choudhary, Bilal Kazmi, Mohammad Saleem, Arif Murtaza and Guards, Tilak Raj, Sham Lal, ,Bihari Lal and other officials of the department.
