DDC Distributes Scooties Among Specially-abled Persons at Udhampur


 
Udhampur, July-24:  District Development Commissioner (DDC), Udhampur, Dr. Piyush Singla today handed over motorized tricycles (Scooties) to thirteen specially-abled persons of district in a specially organized camp by Social Welfare Department at Udhampur.   At the Outset, District Social Welfare Officer Udhampur, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia enlightened about the various schemes sponsored by Social Welfare Department specially meant for the welfare of specially-abled persons. 
Speaking on the occasion, DDC addressed that Specially-abled persons are the part and parcel of our society and every endeavor should be taken in this regard to assure the well being of specially-abled persons in the district. DDC detailed that the objective of providing three wheeler scooties is to empower the specially-abled persons so that they can live in society with dignity and honor and further added that this distribution is basically a drive for making the specially-abled persons independent in their life.
DDC also interacted with Specially-abled persons and during his speech; he hailed the efforts of social welfare department towards socio-economic welfare of different sections of the society and also complimented the department for organizing the motorized tricycle distribution camp amid COVID-19 pandemic.  The scooties were provided by the State Rehabilitation Council under the Social Welfare Department. Beneficiaries thanked District Administration and Social Welfare Department for providing scooties which will help in their free movement and enable them to earn their livelihood respectably.
DDC further stressed upon the efforts to provide opportunities and proper facilities to the specially-abled persons and people of district, so that; they can realize their dreams and aspirations. Inter alia, DDC appreciated the efforts of Social Welfare Department by adding that the department has worked tirelessly and reaching out to the marginalized and downtrodden sections of society during the pandemic and continuously providing the pension to pensioners in a time bound manner. DDC also reiterated the administration’s commitment towards their welfare and rehabilitation and said that every possibility will be explored in this regard.
              Later, DDC visited Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan and reviewed the functioning of these institutions and advised the Department to make obligatory improvements required and also asked to project the necessary demands.
