Budgam, July 23 : District Budgam will get 100 bed mini (AIIMS )like hospital very soon , it will be built at a cost of Rs 180 Cr at Ompora Housing Colony for which the site and land has already been notified .This was told by Commissioner Secretary Labour and Employment Mr Saurab Bhagat while chairing a meeting of officers of labour and employment and other concerned district officers here in new conference hall. The meeting was also attended by DDC Budgam Mr S.A Mirza, labour Commissioner Mr Abdul Rashid War ,CPO ,ACD,ALC and other concerned .The meeting was convened to review the working of labour and Employment department in Budgam.
During the meeting Commissioner Secretary was apprised by ALC Budgam Ms Hafsa that since the fallout of COVID -19 Pandemic ,the department of labour Budgam has released an amount of Rs 1.65 Cr through Deputy Commissioner Budgam received from building and other construction welfare Board as a relief component to registered organized/un organized labour class of District Budgam. It was also given out that till date there are 24,785 skilled/unskilled labours registered with labour department including 11 female ,an amount of Rs 82.63 lakh was released as financial assistance in favour of 8263 registered labour @ Rs 1000/per person under COVID-19 Assistance ,simultaneously Rs 82.63 lakh was released and credited under DBT Scheme mode in favour of 300 beneficiaries .The assistance was also facilitated to 1020 students affiliated with labour Department under PSS Schemes.
Speaking on the occasion the Commissioner Secretary said and stressed that their shall not be any duplicity while registering a person with the labour department .There shall be no compromise on Adhar based validity of any person and Register all labour class coming under age group of 18 to 40, Under Prime Minister Shram Yogi Mandan Yojna as it is a most beneficial scheme for any skilled /Unskilled labour. The scheme has the capacity that any person/labour registered who attains the age of 60 years will automatically be entitled to receive Rs 3000/ as monthly pension till he expires .The scheme has been put up in mission mode by the Govt of india to minimize the chances of any duplicity or fraud. Commissioner Secretary reiterated that Department of labour along with other line departments shall conduct awareness camps in the length and breadth of the district in order to aware the common people about various labour beneficiary schemes launched by Govt of India .People shall know that when a registered labour met with any accident during working hours , if he survives with fatal injuries shall be provided Rs 1 Lakh as instant relief and the person /labour unfortunately loses his life shall instantly be provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 2 Lakh to his or her next of kin.
Commissioner Secretary further said that Govt. of India has liberalized the scheme for BOC Registration process as it has been made easy and affordable for any interested person. Even BDC Chairman or Municipal Council Chairman on their recommendations could get deserving labour class registered under BOC parameters. There is huge scope and prosperity under this scheme. The concerned authorities must adhere that funds are no constraint .He said it was Govt’s enormous initiative to provide monetary relief to this struggling class particularly during Lock down period.
Commissioner Secretary reiterated that Budgam District being unique district to be expanded in length and breadth there is a huge scope in absorbing and giving daily work to huge quantity of labour class .Many big projects are presently going on and many projects evolving huge expenditure are in pipe line and likely to be started very soon .
During the meeting Commissioner Secretary while reviewing the pace of work EDI and WDC ,instructed DDC to conduct fortnightly review of both these departments and furnish the report about what kind of activities these organizations are presently handling relating to their assignments .There must be control , scrutiny and accountability maintained in their over all activities.
On the conclusion Commissioner Secretary along with DDC Budgam and Labour Commissioner Kashmir distributed financial assistance cheques relating to different schems for BOC registered labour class including scholarship for students . During the distribution of cheques BOC welfare board through labour department presented a cheque of Rs 1.5 crore as COVID-19 relief component to be distributed among concerned beneficiaries through DBT Mode .
