Managing Director KPDCL reprimands GE T&D for slow progress of SCADA project


Srinagar, July 14: Managing Director Kashmir Power Discom while reviewing the progress of SCADA project under implementation in two circles of Srinagar being executed by GE(T&D) conveyed his displeasure to the implementing agency for slow pace of work and directed the Field Engineers of GE(T&D) to complete survey and approval of the drawings and specifications in a week’s time so that the project is completed within its stipulated time line i.e July 21.

He directed GE T & D to appoint a Project Manager & Station him in Srinagar. He also exhorted upon Management of GE to increase the strength of field Engineering Team to complete survey at the earliest.

He clarified that even after accounting for time loss due to Covid-19 restrictions GE has failed to adhere to the revised PERT chart.

He warned that if GE fails to adhere to strict timelines the Discom will be compelled to invoke penalty clause. In a follow up to laying of foundation stones by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of UT of J&K for several number Power Projects under Centrally Sponsored Schemes worth Rs. 30.30 crs, the Managing Director took a detailed review of the timelines fixed for the completion of these projects in light of directions issued by the Lt Governor.

Every individual project was reviewed with the respective PIAs and TKCs present in the meeting. Clear instructions were conveyed by the Managing Director that 33/11 KV receiving stations 6.3 MVA Awantipora-II, 10 MVA District Hospital Anantnag, 10 MVA Ellahibagh Rangpora, 10 MVA Aali Masjid, 10 MVA Bugoo sopore shall be completed by 1st week of November 2020 so that benefits of the developmental projects immediately reach to the general public.

It was agreed that the civil works of 2 No. GIS substations of Phalgam and Batmaloo shall be completed by November 2020 and the stations complete in all respects shall be commissioned by or before May, 2021.

The Managing Director told the officers of KPDCL that process for making land free of all encumbrances for 3rd GIS at SangeenDarwaza Srinagar shall be expedited.

The Managing Director stressed upon all the agencies involved in the implementation of the CSS that the quality and standard of works should be maintained at all costs and sub standard execution shall not be tolerated in any case.
