DDC Samba reviews functioning of RDD

SAMBA, JULY 13: District Development Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria, today convened a meeting of district and block level officers to review the functioning of Rural Development department.

Assistant Commissioner Development, Sidharath Dhiman; Chief Planning Officer, Sukhleen Kour; District Panchayat officer, Piyush Dhotra; Executive engineer R.E.W Mulk Raj and Block Development officers of district samba attended the meeting.

The DDC thoroughly reviewed the status of various ongoing works under different schemes of Rural Development department including status of repairs of Hand Pumps, work details of Back to Village programme I & II, status of MGNREGA, 14th F.C, P.M.A.Y, Swacchh Sundar Samudaayik Shauchalaya (SSSS), creation of Model GP Clusters, Construction of New Panchayat Ghars under RGSA, concurrent Social Audit of works under MGNREGS & 14th FC and also achievements made under Convergence Plan.

The DDC set timeline of 15 days for completion of pending works in all the wards across the district, besides directed them to complete all the SOS works within the 15 days without any fail.

The DDC directed BDOs, Engineers and other concerned officers to completely understand the needs, scope and potential of their respective areas and formulate and implement development plans accordingly. He warned them against any laxity and asked to work with pro-active and people friendly approach to make their blocks   model entity for inspiration of others.

The DDC said that the Department of Rural Development has capacity and potential to absorb huge labour class by providing them alternate employment opportunities. “We are capable of transforming socio economic standards of underprivileged and weaker sections of rural parts of the UT” he noted.

He also emphasized that works taken up under 14th FC, B2V are monitored as per prescribed guidelines. The concerned BDOs were directed to conduct regular monitoring. He asked BDOs to involve the BDCs and local PRI members of their respective areas in the development process of their respective areas.
