Atal Dulloo appointed member in MCI committee of experts for Medical Colleges

New Delhi, June 13: Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Atal Dulloo has been appointed as one of the members of a committee of experts constituted by Medical Council of India to review Minimum Standard Requirements Regulations and phase-wise requirements of the Medical Colleges for 50/100/150/200/250 admissions annually.

The committee is comprised of eminent medical faculties, medical education professionals and officers having experience in administration of medical education.

While Dr Suresh Chandra Sharma, Chairman-designate, National Medical Commission is the chairperson of the committee, Dr S Ramji, Ex-Dean, MAMC and presently Senior Advisor, BoG, MCI, will act as Co-Chairperson. Atal Dulloo (Financial Commissioner, H&ME, J&K), Dr Anna B Pulimood (Principal, Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu), Dr Sharad Kumar Rao (Dean, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Karnataka), Dr L Fimate (Retired Director, Zoram Medical College, Aizwal, Mizoram and Professor of Forensic Medicine, Imphal, Manipur), Dr Achal Gulati (Ex-Principal, BSA Medical College, New Delhi and Professor of ENT, MAMC, New Delhi), Prof Deelip G Mhaisekar, Vice Chancellor, Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, Maharashtra), Dr Ranjeet Sinha (Associate Professor, Department of Community, Patna Medical College, Patna, Bihar), Dr Rajneesh Dubey (Principal Secretary, Medical Education, UP Government), SS Shukla (Principal Secretary, MP Government) and Devesh Deval (Ex-Director, Medical Education, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare) are members of the committee. Dr RK Vats, Secretary General, Board of Governors, MCI will act as convener of the committee while Shikhar Ranjan, Law Officer, MCI shall assist the committee.

The Committee is required to do comprehensive revision of Minimum Standard Requirements Regulations for the Medical Colleges (framed in 1999 and amended from time to time). It will examine the existing Minimum Standard Require-ments Regulations for the Medical Colleges and in particular space requirements for and within a Medical College, human resources for imparting training, equipment needed for training, technology to support current teaching and training methods and the clinical material needed for training of the medical graduates.

The committee may consider amalgamation and simplifying the existing regulatory framework including phase-wise requirements and recommend revision of the same in view of current health scenario of the country.
