Congress asks J&K Govt to call all party meet

 

SRINAGAR, July 17:Assessing the current unrest   in the Valley, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee held an urgent meeting, here in Srinagar today in which General Secretary AICC, Incharge J&K Ambika Soni(MP) Former Union Minister & Senior Congress Leader Salman Khursheed & JKPCC Chief G.A. Mir were present.

Discussing, threadbare, the current unrest, the meeting expressed deep concern over the loss of lives in the backdrop of protests erupted in South Kashmir and elsewhere and blamed the Coalition for failing to contain the situation.

The meeting evolved a consensus that the civilian killings and grave injuries to eyes of protestors was a result of PDP-BJP alliance as the two parties have two different ideologies and they rubbed shoulders by back- stabbing the voters. The politics of deceit on the part of PDP and BJP have alienated the people.

The meeting resolved that  had the State Govt taken the measures that were required to be taken urgently, the loss of precious lives could have be evaded. The failure of the State Govt to contain the situation have deteriorated the situation, besides the use of excessive forces on protestors added more trouble to already complicated situation.

The meeting while calling for peace urged the party cadres to reach out to the people, particularly, injured and extend all possible help to them. The party cadres were asked to donate blood also for injured.

The meeting resolved that Congress Party will remain on the forefront to restore peace and is committed to extend all help and cooperation to State Govt to restore normalcy in the State, Congress Party believes that restoration of normalcy in the valley is of utmost importance inorder to ensure atmosphere of peace besides safety of precious lives and property, the meeting resolved.

The meeting further resolved that efforts should be made by all to reduce tensions inorder to restore peace in the valley.

Taking strong exception to use of pellet guns and other methods of force, the meeting observed that continuous use of pellet on protestors have led to the loss of eye sight of about more than hundred people and condemned the use of pellet guns, the meeting strongly urged the  authorities dealing with law and order to stop using pellets.

The meeting asked the State Govt to call an all-party, where issues can be discussed, so that the solution to the current unrest is found.

The meeting offered condolences to families who lost their dear ones and urged the State Govt to airlift the seriously injured person outside state for better treatment.
