School bus drivers should possess valid driving license: RTO Kathua


 

KATHUA, JULY 16:- Regional Transport Office , Kathua today organized one day workshop on road safety for drivers and helpers of school buses here at Kartar Public School, Barnoti.

Regional Transport Officer Kathua Amarjeet Singh, ARTO  Indu Jamwal, Inspectors Rajeev Kundal and Vinod Chalotra, management of Kartar Public School along with transport incharge of various private schools were present during the workshop.

Awareness was created among the drivers, helpers and conductors with the help of audio visual aid.

Speaking on the occasion, RTO Kathua Amarjeet Singh urged upon the drivers, helpers, conductors and transport incharges of various schools to rededicate their efforts to ensure safety of school children. He urged for strict adherence to special conditions laid down for safe transportation of school children.

RTO   elaborated on the importance of observing Road Safety and the need of following traffic rules.

He informed that 1.3 lac people die and 5 lac get seriously injured every year in the country in road mishaps. He further informed that 90 percent of road accidents can be avoided by controlling speed on road and school bus is the ultimate solution for safe transportation of children.

He said that school bus drivers should possess valid driving license, wear proper uniform and have all emergency numbers.

As many as 130 stakeholders participated in the workshop and certificates of participation were distributed among them.             

They were educated about the procedure to be followed during any emergency evacuation.  A demonstration for first responder by volunteers of Red Cross Team headed by Executive Secretary Red Cross Kathua Ashish Singh was also held for the drivers, conductors and helpers.
