ICMR approves four J&K labs for COVID-19 testing


Jammu, March 23: Indian Council of Medical Research has approved four Government laboratories from Jammu and Kashmir for conducting test of COVID-19, which are in Government Medical College Jammu, Army’s Northern Command Hospital at Udhampur, Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences at Srinagar and GMC Srinagar.

While laboratories at GMC Jammu, SKIMS Srinagar and GMC Srinagar are already conducting tests for COVID-19, testing facility at Command Hospital, Udhampur is yet to be started.

Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K, Atal Dulloo said that within few days, India Institute of Integrative Medicine will also start conducting tests for this dreaded disease after which we will have three testing facilities in Jammu province alone.

He further added that besides this, collection centers for samples of coronavirus have also been established in five new GMCs in Kathua, Doda, Rajouri, Anantnag and Baramulla.
