 Sarmad reviews progress of works at Bakshi, MA Stadiums

JAMMU, FEBRUARY  19: The sports infrastructure projects at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar,  involving a cost of Rs 40.85 crore and M A Stadium, Jammu, costing Rs 42.17 crore are in full swing and are expected to be completed by June this year.

This information was given at a meeting chaired by Secretary Youth, services and Sports, Sarmad Hafiz, convened here to review the progress of the ongoing works at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar and M A Stadium Jammu.

Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Salim-ul-Rehman; Special Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, Narinder Singh Bali; Secretary, J&K Sports Council, Naseem Choudhary; Zonal Manager, Dharampal; Project Manager, Amit Pandita and other officers of the department were present in the meeting.

Threadbare discussion was held on renovation, up-gradation and other developmental sports infra projects at the twin Stadiums, besides development of football ground at Bakshi Stadium.

Director General, Youth Services and Sports, Salim-ul-Rehman briefed about the ongoing construction works being carried out at district level across Jammu and Kashmir.

Detailed discussion was also held on Panchayat level games,  physical and financial status of Khelo India scheme (Infrastructure    Development and promotion) progress on JKIDFC and PMDP projects.

   The Secretary directed the concerned to take necessary steps for maintaining cleanliness, beautification and massive plantation in and around all the existing stadiums in Jammu and Srinagar.  He also asked them to make available all required facilities for players like changing rooms, drinking water and toilets.

The Secretary directed the executing agencies to speed up the pace of work and complete the same in a stipulated time frame.
